  • Identification Code: mv2bs-cb
  • General: Circular shape with continous grained edge.
  • Obverse: Circular rim with dentacles beading. In the center, over the field, bust of Simon Bolivar facing left (from the viewer's perspective), with "BARRE" below (from the original engraver), surrounded by the legends "Bolívar" at left and "LIBERTADOR" at right.
  • Reverse: Circular rim with dentacles beading. In the center, over the field, Coat of Arms with a horse stand up toward the right looking at left (from the viewer's perspective) with the motto "19 DE ABRIL DE 1810", "INDEPENDENCIA", "20 DE FEBRERO DE 1859", "FEDERACION" and "REPUBLICA DE VENEZUELA" «Republic of Venezuela». Surrounding the field, the legend "REPUBLICA DE VENEZUELA" «Republic of Venezuela». In the exergue, the denomination in words "DOS BOLÍVARES" «Two Bolívares» and the year.
  • Variety details: There is a mismatch in the Krause Catalog for 1989 varieties. The coins minted in Royal Mint Canada (mv2bs-cb01v3) should be Y43a.1 and not Y43a.2; and coins minted in Schwerte (mv2bs-cb01) should be Y43a.2 and not Y43a.1.
